VOLUNTEER, INTERNSHIP & GAP YEAR IN GHANA

If you are searching for a real project of real social value and work side-by side with local people who will warm your heart and leave you smiling from ear to ear, why not join one of our design-build camps at Abetenim Arts Village in the historic Ashanti Region or the Sang arts villages in the Dagomba nation in Northern Ghana. At the arts village, we are running series of art+architecture camps. The challenge is to design and build a rural arts center to benefit local community by maximum use of materials from the environment such as earth, wood and grass, along with free recycled plastics and other found objects and have time for personal adventures.

Project is open to all volunteers, students and graduates of architecture, art, design, engineering, volunteers, and others interested in rural community development to join us in a “together” approach to change the circumstance of a people who say they are economically deprived despite the abundance of local resources. If you do not have the experience, our mud master will give you instructions how to build with mud in the vernacular way. You will stay with others in our arts village or homestay with a local family for cultural immersion. The weekends can be used for cultural excursions, expeditions to the nature parks, or attend community events such as weddings, funerals, and festivals. Or, it can be devoted to workshops in drumming, dancing, or cooking.
