Cope, founded in 1997, stands for Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise and is a local organisation working with rehabilitation centers and the Lao Health Ministry. As a direct result of the Vietnam war, millions of UXO (unexplodes ordnance) lie scattered around Lao PDR.
Cope has a visitor's center (open 9am-6pm) with an impressive exhibition of clusterbombs and the destruction they have caused.
The NGO provides prosthetics and mobility devices to people who can't afford them, and develops sustainable rehabilitation programs.
