The Botswana Centre for Human Rights was established in 1993 and since then has remained the only organisation in Botswana dealing with all aspects of human rights. We are proud to say we have won several awards for our work since 1993.

DITSHWANELO relies on the support of volunteers in many areas of our work and we greatly welcome volunteers from within Botswana and internationally.  Many of our international volunteers are lawyers seeking experience of human rights law, others bring skills such as fundraising and communications, research, website and IT skills, etc.

We do not run a formal programme or promote specific volunteer roles – because we can make good use of almost anyone willing to offer their time.

All you need do is:  send or bring us your CV and let us know when you will be available and we will let you know the possibilities.

DITSHWANELO tries to raise funding for minimal expenses to be paid to volunteers, to cover cost of public transport and lunch. International volunteers typically seek funding for their placement from universities, etc., within their own country.
