HEAL is an organization/hospital in the DRC Congo working to eradicate poor health, poverty and the oppression of women (treating injuries resulting from rape). Uses a community-based sustainable healthcare model. Staffing priority is the training of locals, but skilled and committed volunteers could help.
The hospital features in the 2009 bestselling book "Half the Sky".
