Volunteer in Honduras: Calling artists, musicians, magicians and scientists!  We need teachers, camp counselors, psychologists and more!

Volunteers of any race, religion or country of origin are welcome to participateWe prefer volunteers of 20 years and older and are especially interested in long-term volunteers (6 mos.+).  The minimum volunteer period is 6 weeks and we can usually be flexible in accommodating your preferred starting date.  The Honduras Child Alliance programs are located in the beach community of El Porvenir, with one extension project in the neighboring village of La Union. Our community is close to the lively La Ceiba area of the Caribbean north coast, with the jungle rivers of the Pico Bonito National Forest and the sun and sand of the Caribbean Sea  just minutes from where our volunteers live and work.

•  PORVENIR ENGLISH PROGRAM:  Teach free English classes to elementary age, teens and adults.  Volunteers operate in teams and are supported by an on-site project manager who schedules them and helps with planning. We have a basic curriculum but there is lots of room for creativity in how you choose to work with your groups. We encourage you to teach with songs, movement, games and other fun activities.

•  "Reader's Club":  Develop literacy in Spanish for elementary age children via read-aloud story time, creative writing, art projects, games and public speaking.  Volunteers work in teams.

•  Photo and Video Program:  Creative expression thru photography and video plus techical instruction on uploading and editing images.

•  Vacation Activities Program (VAP):  Work with a team of international volunteers to operate a "summer camp" style enrichment program for when the children are on school break.

Safe and clean housing is available for $4-$5 USD per day.  Houses have complete kitchens, electricity, running water and comfortable beds.  Our in-country project manager lives on-site with the volunteers and provides orientation, planning and scheduling for incoming volunteers.
