I am retired from careers in journalism, tourism and economic development.  Taught sailing professionally for a decade in the Chesapeake Bay, Pacific Northwest, Maine, both coasts of Florida and the British Virgin Islands.  In 1989-90 drove a Class A motorhome 35,000 miles touring all 50 states while my mother and I wrote bi-weekly letters to home-schooling families as a way to encourage kids to learn more about the history, geography and ecology of the U.S.A.  Head a group of Earthstewards and Friends who built a child development center (Los Ositos CDI) in Leon, Nicaragua following the Iran/Contra conflict and still raise funds to support it.  Am internationally-certified to teach English to non-native speakers.  Fluent in Spanish.
