The Ngeriv project  started around 2006, as an initiative of Mr Remigius Mushenga in association with local volunteers and organisations. Localised in Bwawani village, it aims to engage communities towards a development plan involving education, alternative means of income and environmental sustainability.

From the website:

Ngeriv works with the big majority of institutions and people of Bwawani, therefore we can offer a wide range of volunteers and/or internships placements:

- Teaching in primary and secondary schools
- Orphanages
- Widows care
- Organic farming
- Fish farming
- Beekeeping
- Eco tourism
- Forestry management
- Wildlife protection
- River conservation
- Public health
- Land surveying and facilitate ownership
- Housing improvement for poor rural communities
- Handcraft training

All are welcome! The minimum required of time spent in our organisation is of two weeks. Nevertheless, the success of many of the enterprises lies in bringing long term volunteers with specialised knowledge and skills. In the 'Projects' page you will find specific information on the needs of the current projects. Generally, these are needed in the following projects:

  • Long term volunteers (minimum 8 weeks) to teach Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology) and English
  • Beekeeping
  • Market research to facilitate access
  • Organic farming and Fairtrade membership
  • Teaching of economically viable skills
  • Fundraising

New projects are always welcomed and encouraged! Ngeriv is part of a large social network and aims to reach as many people as possible . Therefore it offers the perfect setting for research, internships and implementation of new ideas.
