Project Bona Fide (PBF) is a demonstrative permaculture farm and educational center that utilizes permaculture design, agroforestry, research & education, and community collaboration to promote food security and sustainable living systems on Isla de Ometepe in southwest Nicaragua.

We accept volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Looking for individuals interested learning more about sustainable agriculture and living systems and contributing to our growing organization. Hard skills in construction, natural building, masonry, or farming is a huge plus but not necessary.
We do not have a minimal time commitment.
No skills required. Open mind and strong desire to learn.
Our volunteers work from 7AM-12PM with an hour break for breakfast. Activities are split between 4 sections of the farm: the kitchen, the field, the garden, and the nursery. Activities within each category differ depending on the season. Examples are planting/harvesting crops in the field, small construction/natural building projects, garden maintenance and care, food preparation, seed propagation, fruit harvesting, tree planting, watering plants, etc.
The cost of volunteering is as follows: Less than 1 week: $20/night 1-2 weeks: $18/night 3 weeks-1 month: $16/night 1 month: $400/month This fee includes lodging in one of our open air cabañas, 3 daily meals excluding Saturday dinner when we all eat off the farm, and the operational cost of our local staff.
