Community Outreach Programme (CORP) is a non-governmental/non profit organisation which registered in 1977 with 40 Children and a small project in Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum. Since our foundation we have reached out to over 1 million women and children, across 13 slum communities in greater Mumbai. CORP now provides a range of services to the underprivileged women and children of the city including educational programmes, specialised educational classes for those suffering with both physical and mental disabilities, health and nutrition workshops, vocational training and a family counselling centre. The philosophy of CORP’s practice is to maximise the holistic development of the poorest of the poor through education and the promotion of sustainable skills. Such an approach has enabled countless individuals to live both healthy and successful lives away from the clutches of poverty.

In order to ensure the continuity of all our programmes it is vital that we continue to both raise awareness of our cause and secure the funds that are pivotal in ensuring that our many groups can continue to provide their invaluable services to the women and children of Mumbai. It is on this note that CORP is pleased to share with you the news of a forthcoming event titled ‘Rock & Roll Reignited’. The musical event will be hosted by the group ‘Burning Rock’ and is scheduled to be held on the ‘11th of March’ at ‘St. Andrews Auditorium in Bandra’.

‘Burning Rock’ is an expanded group of 16 that now includes a 9 piece vocal section accompanied by a 7 piece musical rock and roll band, all members have a wealth of experience in the production and performance of music. The group is renowned for their elaborate vocal harmony and instrumentation in non-classical music. Their recent live performances have featured hits by many popular western musicians including Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Queen and The Beatles. In 2009 they played to a sold out crowd at St. Andrews Auditorium who encouraged the band to return and play a similar set at some stage in the future.

The event will raise funds to enable us to improve the current standards and facilities of our 3 shelter homes for street/orphaned children in Mumbai. We wish to use the funds to provide higher standards of education and nutrition to the children and support their development through additional social/extra circular activities. An information sheet on our shelter homes and the role they play in the development of the children is enclosed with this letter.

In order for our event to be a success we are looking at securing the services of several large sponsors who believe in the work that we do and who wish to support us on our journey in minimising the disruption of poverty on the children in our society. We thank you in anticipation of your interest and invaluable support of the work of CORP and the future success of our musical event.

In addition to the shelter home information then please also find enclosed a sheet detailing sponsor pricing information along with the official poster for ‘Rock & Roll Reignited’. If you require any further information then please do not hesitate to make contact with ourselves and we will be most happy to help you with any request you may have.

Warmest regards,
